“Terra Incognita refers to uncharted territory – a place that has never been explored by mankind. As individuals, we are continuously facing new challenges, encouraging us to step into the unknown.”
Quote from ‘UNKNOWNLAND’
Over 500 kilometers. 5 Days. No rules. The brand new YouTube documentary series ‘UNKNOWNLAND: The Speed Project’ follows the German runner Nicki Lange along his intense and picturesque journey across Death Valley from the Santa Monica Pier to Las Vegas – with all its ups and downs.
The series of five videos, directed by Fabian Stoffers, sheds light on the physical and psychological challenges that ‘The Speed Project’ presents runners with: The unsanctioned race, which only provides a rough framework instead of a clear route, takes Lange along seemingly never-ending desert roads past a huge airport in the middle of nowhere, an old companion and rainbows.
But there are no rainbows without rain: The experienced runner is facing heavy rain, sub-zero temperatures and the knowledge of a past race that had to be abandoned, but which he can’t let take away his precisely marshaled energy for the big goal – finally arriving in Las Vegas, with a ticking clock on his heels.
The series about Nick Lange conquering 500+ km of the American west with support by a team including On Running and other partners, friends, and family, is available on Nicki Lange’s YouTube channel now. Watch the trailer here for a story about teamwork, dedication and the importance of setbacks:
