HEART IN THE PAINT

Heart in the Paint, an organization devoted towards the betterment of young lives through sports, art and education in the Los Angeles area, has recently unveiled a stunning outdoor basketball court. Over the course of 14 days, artist Gustavo Zermeño Jr has depicted many Lakers legends in painstaking detail on this one-of-a-kind streetball court, that’s also part of the Venice Basketball League.

From Jerry West and Elgin Baylor to the stars from the Showtime era like Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy as well as Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant, many of the club’s greatest icons are pictured in the impressive artwork. The piece also features two legendary figures from the sidelines in club owner Jerry Buss and long-time broadcaster Chick Hearn. Interestingly, Pau Gasol (two titles with the Lakers) made the cut over LeBron James (one title with the purple and gold).

If you’re rolling with the purple and gold, make sure to check out the Lakers pieces from the limited-edition capsule collection by BSTN w/ the NBA via the button below and if you’d like to learn more about the work that Heart in the Paint is doing in the Los Angeles community click here!
