Following an initial partnership built around the Air Jordan II, NY-based contemporary artist and painter Nina Chanel Abney teams up with Jordan Brand to create an all-new take on the legendary Air Jordan III. Not unlike the first partnership between the artist and the Jumpman, the AJIII strikes a balance between honoring the shoe’s legacy while also pushing creative boundaries.
The lifestyle adaptation of the threes sees depth and and balance brought to the upper through textural mix of waxed canvas and shaggy suede in different hues of green, contrasted by orange details like the rope laces and chequered insoles. A noteworthy detail found on the heel of the shoe is that Abney was invited to be the first artist ever to reimagine the iconic Jumpman logo in her own signature style. This collaboration merges contemporary artistry with sneaker culture, honouring Jordan’s legacy while pushing creative boundaries and turning heads since the original release in ’88.
The Air Jordan III releases alongside a jointly created apparel collection – shot on none other than Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz – that includes multiple colorways of shorts, hoodies, sweatpants, and a t-shirt with co-branded designs that match the shoes’ color scheme.
