After releases honoring some of Jordan’s biggest rivals, the latest version of the Air Jordan III is staying closer to home. The ‘UNC’ colorway is a (blatantly?) obvious tribute to MJ’s alma mater, the University of North Carolina.
With the NCAA’s “March Madness” tournament just around the corner, a college-inspired release is as well-timed as it is non-coincidental.
Apart from smaller changes to the tongue, the color-blocking on this release stays strikingly close to a PE version of the AJIII, originally given exclusively to members of the Tar Heels’ basketball team.
Subtle yet powerful dashes of valor blue (also referred to as Carolina blue) are reserved for the heel molds, the Jumpman tongue logos, and the plastic lace loops. The iconic elephant prints are kept to their traditional tones of grey.
The Air Jordan III UNC releases on Saturday, March 7th, at the BSTN online shop as well as in our stores in Munich and Hamburg.
