This year, the NBA All Star Weekend offers Jordan aficionados a chance at a truly special reunion. When the festivities were last held in Chicago in 1988, Michael Jordan put on an unforgettable show in front of his hometown crowd in an equally special shoe, the Air Jordan III.
In true Jordan-fashion, the GOAT took home the trophy for one of the most iconic Slam Dunk Contests of all time (against Dominique Wilkins) before dropping a 40-burger on the West All Stars and claiming the All Star MVP trophy one night later.
For the 2020 ASG, Jordan Brand brings back the AJ III in a special ‘Unite’ colorway (also dubbed ‘Red Cement’) that not only plays off of their Hoops Unite campaign but also features a healthy dose of the Bulls’ iconic red.1 The threes’ heel tab features the infamous NIKE AIR branding, just like the pair that Mike himself wore during his eventful weekend back in 1988.
The Air Jordan III ‘Unite’ will release as a full family size run (Mens, GS, Pre-School and Toddler) at BSTN on Saturday, February 15th.
In the NBA, the All Star Weekend means as much for sneaker releases as Christmas Day does for top-tier matchups: One highlight chases another! While the game itself has become more negligible by the year, sneaker brands truly step up their game this week. From the latest performance models of LeBron, KD, PG & Co.’s signature lines to authentic retro releases of legendary silhouettes, this weekend certainly packs a punch.
All of Nike’s and Converse’s releases for the 2020 NBA All Star Game in Chicago release on Saturday, February 15th, at the BSTN online store!
While LeBron’s 2018/19 NBA season ended much sooner than The King is used to, it gave him time to spend his (extended) summer working on the sequel of every basketball fan’s favorite animated movie. In anticipation of Space Jam 2 starring LeBron James, Nike releases a set of Tune Squad and Monstars gear — each with the appropriate pair of LeBron XVII (Low) to match.
Nike’s Space Jam 2 drop — as part of the 2020 NBA All Star Game festivities — releases on Saturday, February 15th, at the BSTN online store!
1. Fittingly enough, this year’s game will be played at the United Center whereas its predecessor was played at the old Chicago Stadium. ↩
