ARTHUR KAR’S ART AND CARS

The ungrateful task to sum up the work of Arthur Kar might be solved by describing him, let’s say, as a creator of things: “Fashion’s favorite dealer of rare, vintage automobiles”, to quote SSENSE, does exactly that. But he also customizes them. And he makes streetwear inspired by it. The common denominator in all that: his love for design, aesthetics and the art of cars – L’art de L’automobile.

And while IG captions or anything ‘advertisement’ of the Beirut-born car fanatic, who navigates his empire from an unmarked showroom in central Paris, have been rather minimalistic for years, the comment section couldn’t be more different from it:

The hymns of praise by like-minded PS aficionados give a not-so-subtle hint though at how much Kar’s community has grown since the 2010s saw people scratching their heads about who that mysterious guy next to A$AP Rocky, the late Virgil Abloh or Tyler, The Creator was. And why he was never seen without a f*cking crazy car (pardon our French, pardon our intended pun).

After collabs with Porsche, Beats, Vans, Hyebeast and others, the most recent post – as seen in this post’s cover – by the fashion chapter of L’Art de L’automobile teases another high-profile meeting of minds: Following a (vocal) appearance by Kar on Drake’s and 21 Savage’s “No BS” outro in 2022, the Six God’s Nocta and Kar’s brainchild seem to have an apparel collab on the way. Looks like Kar still won’t take the foot of the accelerator anytime soon.
