SERVUS KAISER!

A true Munich original, Franz Beckenbauer was a pioneer on and off the pitch who pushed his trailblazing (playing) style to culminate in a career that rivals any in the sport of football. Lovingly called ‘Der Kaiser’, he is often credited with innovating the role of the modern sweeper – and was among the first to take his football talents to New York City.

Less than a starting eleven (9) in history have managed to win a World Cup, the Champions League, and the Ballon d’Or. Less than a handful of players (3) in history have won the World Cup as a player and as a manager. Not only is Beckenbauer a part of both lists but he also captained his squads in each of the prestigious events.

As reported by his family, Beckenbauer passed away on Sunday, January 7th. Rest easy, Kaiser!
