Can you feel it in the air (no Beanie Sigel)? Fall is here and it‘s a time of transition: Leaves change colors. Temperatures get lower. And, duh, layering season is in full effect!
That means dressing down for summer is over, bundling up for winter is not here yet – fall is just a great time for rocking multiple favorite pieces at once (without catching a heat surge) and for experimenting with silhouettes and materials. Let’s celebrate it with some inspiration for your fall wardrobe, including essentials and standout pieces by ØLAF, Ksubi, The North Face and other premium brands at BSTN.
Academia Aesthetic
You can‘t say ‘fall’ without ‘corduroy’: Not only does the durable fabric hold up with the season’s weather pretty good, but it also elevates every outfit to ‘chic’ in the best sense of the word immediately. The shade of dark green is a no-brainer here: Fall trees, leaves, darker tones, you know the drill.
The waffle knit worn below comes into play as the perfect transitional piece: It’s less thick and softer than wool, but still warm enough to keep you warm (without overheating you). And while a waffle-knit is always a good choice for the one interesting item in your outfit, the subtle beige doesn’t take anything away from the corduroy jacket here. Last but not least, the checkered pants add to the academia aesthetic of the upper pieces with some preppyness – but are still casual enough if worn slightly baggy.

Are You Down? The Puffer Jacket Look
The word ‘essential’ gets thrown around too losely these days, but the puffer jacket indeed is a wardrobe staple when temperatures drop – and the Nuptse Jacket by The North Face is one of THE best examples for that. Just ask your favorite (east coast) rapper or polar explorer the next time you get a chance.
If you don’t want to look like the good ol’ Michelin Man (sorry, buddy) in your TNF jacket outfit though, color blocking is key: That’s why we didn’t go with wide brown pants here, but with perfectly neutral black wool pants and beige boots. And while it’s cool to blend in with fall leaves in the brown jacket, the colorful cardigan adds some fresh color to lighten up the fit.

A Pop of Color
Fall season clothing is almost synonymous with neutral colors. But rules are made to be broken, so let’s shake up all the muted black, brown and camel with a pop of color once more. And as it’s always a good idea to go back to the classics, why not do it with a cardigan: It has to be some kind of classic if our grandparents have been wearing it for decades, right?
A statement-making pattern never hurts for a style update though, so this outfit centers around Ksubi’s leopard print cardigan. Peep how the crimson red gives early Christmas vibes too! Add a harmonizing red sweater, the aforementioned neutrals for the pants and Converse Chucks and here we go with an elevated fall look.
